As the second crossover SUV added to Vauxhall’s range, a second hand Vauxhall Crossland X has a lot in common with the Mokka X while improving on some of its weaknesses. Designed as a more family-friendly SUV, it only went on sale for the first time in 2017 but you can find some great nearly new deals on Vauxhall Crossland X vehicles. Every used Vauxhall Crossland X is front-wheel drive with a choice of a 1.2-litre petrol or 1.6-litre diesel engine. Within these each is available with different power outputs, including 80 to 128bhp for the petrol models for example, depending on whether you want something that’s merely punchy or powerful. There are five trim levels of the Vauxhall Crossland X cars for sale, starting with the entry level SE that includes a 7-inch colour touch screen infotainment system, cruise control, 16-inch alloy wheels and more as standard. At the top of the range the Elite Nav trims include an 8-inch touchscreen setup with a sat nav, 17-inch alloy wheels and a colour contrasting roof too. About Vauxhall Crossland

Given the popularity of Vauxhall models like the Corsa and Astra, it was inevitable that as soon as the brand launched its first SUVs they would be a big success – as evidenced with the Mokka. It wasn’t a huge surprise when Vauxhall sought to expand the line-up, with the Crossland X being launched in 2017 as a more affordable option, and indirectly replacing the Meriva MPV.

Bringing style and a roomy interior, it was a big success, particularly with families. Vauxhall revised it in 2020, with the ‘X’ being taken out of its name, while gaining a more modern front-end, bringing it closer in line with the brand’s newer models.

Why buy a used Crossland?

Though there are certainly better all-rounders in the compact SUV class, the Crossland really stands out in many key areas.

The first is value for money, as used prices undercut many competitors by some margin if you were looking at a new one. But these savings also transfer through to used models, which are considerably better value than cars like the Hyundai Kona at the same age.

You also get a lot of equipment included as standard. Even entry-level cars get a generous amount of kit, for example, including a seven-inch touchscreen, LED headlights, cruise control and automatic lights and wipers. Models higher up the line-up bring features like Alcantara seat trim and keyless entry too.

Another asset to the Crossland is its practicality, as despite being no bigger in terms of dimensions than your typical family hatchback, it’s very well packaged for its size. Thanks to a boxy design, there’s plenty of room on offer, with a 410-litre boot being a good size for plenty of luggage or shopping, while three adults would be able to get comfortable in the rear. Elements like a height-adjustable boot floor and sliding rear seats are also two very useful assets.

It’s also quite a stylish thing to look at too. With all models coming with alloy wheels, it gives the Crossland plenty of street cred out on the road. The updated 2020 model is undoubtedly the one to go for if you value looks, with its sharper, more modern-looking front end being a real improvement. Plenty of versions also get a stylish contrasting black roof, which looks particularly appealing on lighter-coloured models like white and red.

Joining the Mokka X, Vauxhall launched the similarly-sized Crossland X in 2017, bringing style, space and affordability to the brand’s line-up.
Vauxhall introduced a range-topping Ultimate model to the Crossland X range in 2018, bringing more high-end features like leather seats and a heated steering wheel.
A facelifted model was launched in 2020, bringing a far more stylish front end design, new alloy wheels and a subtly updated rear. This facelift also saw the ‘X’ being dropped from its name.

What should I look for when buying a used Crossland?

Many Crosslands are used as urban runabouts, so look out for any parking damage, such as kerbed wheels and any dings and dents. Be mindful to watch out for dings in doors, particularly where children have opened them on other cars.
On a similar note, check the interior over for any excess wear and tear, especially the rear seats where children will have been. The Crossland’s cabin quality isn’t the best, so it might not prove the most durable.
