Which 4x4 should I buy?

There are options for all sorts of driver on the 4x4 market. There are several options that offer a very efficient 40mpg. Among the traditional offerings of Land Rovers and Jeeps - which are continually edging towards the luxury market thanks to very well equipped interiors and equipment - there are efficient Nissans, Skodas and Dacias for example. If you're looking for a second hand 4x4, thanks to the growing popularity of the class you can be sure to find something that will suit your needs.

What should I look for when buying 4x4?

Do you actually need a 4x4? If you live in the countryside and you're often traversing muddy fields across hills and fields, then it is the vehicle of choice. Equally, you may want the versatility of a 4x4 if you live in an area prone to snow during winter months. If you live in a city, you may well want a 4x4 for the space and the practicality, but you probably don't need it for its off road ability. When you begin your search, think about your needs. For the larger families there are seven-seater options, although the added seats may only be suitable for children and will limit the amount of luggage space available. If you tow a caravan or horsebox then a 4x4 really is a good option. Depreciation is not especially severe on 4x4s, so while buying a used 4x4 might at the time seem high, many models keep their value well which helps when you come to trade it in. Some models, such as the Range Rover Evoque will give smaller more dynamic cars a run for their money. Thanks to their popularity, there are more used 4x4s for sale than ever before.
